Kickstarter - Start Or Support Creative Projects

Friday, October 19, 2012

With the current fast paced progress of technology and information, chances are that most of us have thoughts and ideas flowing through our brains constantly and our creative minds are being put in overdrive more than ever. We spend our day looking at what other people are doing and we learn from each other, it would be hard not to have a wild imagination, and ultimately not generate a few great ideas. But if you lack the financial backing and necessary resources, what do you do with those ideas? Or what if you did have resources, but have not yet found an idea worth spending it on? Well, now is your time to shine because there is a site called Kickstarter.com, which allows anyone to invest in ordinary everyday people with extraordinary ideas.

So what is Kickstarter? At it's core, it's basically a website that mediates deals, agreements and updates between the project starters - i.e. entrepreneurs and proprietors with their investors, which are called backers. The site serves as a venue for individuals or start-up companies to securely upload and showcase their proposal to attract possible contributors or investors and give them updates about the project as well.

The mechanics of the site make it fairly simple for both proprietor and contributor alike. The project creator will post details of his or her project, and give incentives on each value of contribution. Potential backers can then contribute any value from a dollar to thousands of dollars depending on which incentives they prefer.

So if you are a person with great ideas that you are sure can work, a person who has an extra few bucks that you want to spend on something more interesting, or even just someone who likes to browse new things people are coming up with, Kickstarter is a fun site worth spending a little time or money on.

Some things worth noting:

  • At present, Kickstarter is only available to the U.S. and U.K. Hopefully, they offer this service internationally some day in the future or that a site pops up that will offer this service to other countries.

  • If you do plan on becoming a backer and investing some money, please do your due diligence first. Kickstarter tries to make their site as secure as possible, but you should also do your part in protecting your hard earned money by doing some research on the project starter and on the project itself before pledging.

Yes, I Know That

The Internet has an overflow of information for everyone to just sink their nails into. Some portals have focused information where they publish specialized topics. Some websites like ours give out a mix of stuff from here and there. One website which we found interesting enough earlier today, collects discusses trivias about categories such as animals, celebrities, countries, education, humans, nature, space, sports, health, and plain weird.

Site can be found at http://www.yesiknowthat.com, and there are actually interesting facts that we thought we knew but they just took the extra step into writing about details of that topic. We think this would be a great way of filling up our brains with new and more detailed information as brain exercise. Woopee!

Multiplayer Digital Piano

Wednesday, September 19, 2012

Oh, what great ingenuity! Somebody figured out how to play the piano with at least four other people at the same time...in different places!

Definitely digital ;)

Almost 3,000 likes on Facebook, so you definitely should check it out.

It is like a chatroom that can count how many people are in the same room, playing a tune on the same keyboard. The other cursors also show where they are from.

Here's a screenshot, but nothing beats it than experiencing the digital piano on your own. Check it out at http://www.multiplayerpiano.com/ :)
