The Hobbit: Free iPhone and iPad Strategy Game

The elves are working overtime for 2013.

Yes, they are. I would say that they took a break to enjoy the holidays, and came right back up just before the New Year to continue on the promised 12 articles for this season.

While we promised this, we would like to write an article about the iPhone version of the strategy game of The Hobbit. I am happy to say that I actually went to the cinema at midnight at this part of the world just to watch the premiere of The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey last December 11, 2012. In the future, when I look back, I can say that I watched the premiere of The Hobbit on 12/12/12. I particularly love the scene where the dwarves start singing Misty Mountains. We never bothered for a review because no good words will be capable of describing this film except for the fact that everything you have hoped for in a JRR Tolkien masterpiece, is there. Peter Jackson never fails. Watching "The Hobbit" would be quite a reality you would want to last forever, especially if one watches it in 3D. Movie aside, we have, of course, downloaded THE iPhone free game of The Hobbit: Kingdoms of Middle-Earth.

This game was created by Kabam. Inc., company responsible for other online games such as Legend Four, Rise of The Warriors, Kingdoms of Camelot, Edgeworld, Wartune, The Godfather: Five Families, and much more.

Some Features of this middle-earth action-packed multiplayer strategy game:

• Players to battle or team with all over the world.
• Alliances with other leaders can be forged!
• Rid the land of goblins and build training facilities for it.
• Enemies will definitely be conquered, across Middle Earth.
• Receive daily tokens from Gollum and win prizes!

First, you have to choose which side you will be first: the Elves or the Dwarves. I chose Elves and I had Legolas to protect me for 7 days, as a beginner.

Missions are different, but generally the same. Build, train, and conquer! Receive free Mithril when you sign up for a Kabam account. You can use Mithril to help build up your kingdom.

  

Important thing is to rebuild the population and defend yourself against possible enemies, like any strategy game.

  

The basic idea is good, and the GUI definitely works. Although, for people using only an iPhone, usability is poor. Everything is slow and the iPhone screen is not suitable for this kind of game at all since there is a lot of things to keep track of. We would advise for you to actually use an iPad instead. Using an iPhone will definitely take out the fun of playing this game.

One of the best parts is Gollum's Token as Daily Free Play. I received 20,000 stone I was able to use for my supplies.

Free iPhone Game - Lunar Racer

Here we are again at this section of the site where we get download free apps onto our phones, go through the ordeal (or the fun) of playing a game, and letting you guys know what it is about. We will be reviewing Lunar Racer for this entry, one of many free games available in the iTunes store. Let us now start with a brief description of it:

Some Features of the Game:

• Great design of extraterrestrial terrain with 16 interesting tracks.
• Multiplayer mode and compete up to 4 of your friends!
• Choose from hundreds of varieties when it comes to customizing vehicles.
• Up to six weapon combinations so you can defeat your competitors.
• Leading up to the wazoo are achievements, bonus goals, and leaderboards!

This game is as simple as it gets. Just follow the very simple instructions and you will not go wrong. At the startup screen, one can choose "Single Player", "Multiplayer", "Garage", or visit the "Game Center". If you are playing for the first time, you will be called a "Rookie" and the screen gives you the option to train for the controls.

 

Touch the left side of the screen to activate "Gravity Assist", which pulls your vehicle back down to the surface. Touch the right side of the screen to activate "Nitro Booster", which gives your vehicle a speed boost, and consumes nitro during the process. Tilt your device to rotate the vehicle you are using. Performing flips so you will be able to refill your nitro tank, but be sure to always land on your wheels or your vehicle will get into an accident. 

As with other games, power-ups can be collected to help beat opponents. Lunar Racer has Nitro Boost, Space Mine, Missile,  Super Missile, and Bubble Shield. Every one of them functions depending on your need. Completing 3 goals with Basic Training earns you a Lunar License!

It is pretty common to complete goals, especially if you choose single player. As you get through that, you can choose other moons to race on. It might take awhile to get used to the controls, which is what made me find it just a bit at the level of being average amusing. Later into the game, the repetitiveness of the race was not satisfying enough to make me pursue the other goals and race onto other moons. My rating would be 2.5/5.

Plants Vs. Zombies Halloween Giveaway
